This church is an important religious Maronite heritage church of the Maronite Community. It was the main church of the Maronite community until the early 20th century. Conservation designs were undertaken in 2014 by the Maronite Church Committee through a tri-communal team of architects, engineers and quantity surveyor.
The structural stability of the church was ensured (foundations, walls, floor and vaulted roof) and humidity and water damage problems were addressed. The bell tower reconstructed and a new bell installed as well as the restoration of wooden doors.
The project team consists of Lordos Architects, In-Site Studio USA and Centro Ave Arte.
The project completed in 2014 and the official ceremony to reopen the church took place on 2015.
